Tales 'n Tunes
Contents:
1. The Little Old
Woman Who Lived in a Vinegar Bottle is a popular English
fairy tale. The
story features an old woman who's never satisfied and a spirited
fairy who grants wishes and
sings, too.
2. Tug of War is our
reworking of a West African folk tale about a porcupine with ambition.
He may be small; but he's clever. And musical, too! Listen and
see who wins the tug of war.
3. Four Friends is
similar to Grimm's Bremen Town Musicians.
Our story is a retelling of
a Pakistani version. Four animals band together to find their
fortunes. They find friendship,
too. We added a song for them to sing as they're travelin' down
the road.
4. Wide Mouth Frog is
a story which came to the United States from Africa. Listeners
love
this tale as much as we do. You're invited to croak along on this
one! Thanks to Bob Kanegis
for the words to the song.
5. The Cat and the Parrot is
a tale from India. Our version features a greedy cat, his polite
parrot friend, and a cast of characters he meets along the way.
There's a rollicking song
that'll have you singing.
6. Lion Takes a Walk is
an African tale about a king of the jungle with a ba-a-ad attitude.
He walks through the bush to sing his song for the other animals;
and, along the way he
learns a lesson in humility. Feel free to sing along!
7. Cuckoo's Reward, a
Mayan tale from Mexico, is about a cuckoo who is very vain about
her good looks and lovely singing voice. The other animals think
she's lazy; but, she
displays unusual bravery and saves the day for everyone. Then
she really has a reason
to sing, if only she could!
8. The Little Old Woman Who Couldn't Get
Any Sleep is our reworking of an Eastern
European tale. And you thought you lived in a noisy house! This
woman has so much
noise in her house, she's a wreck! Sing along and see if she ever
gets a good night's sleep.
On their
new CD, Travelin Down the Road: Sing Along Stories from
Around the World, Tales n Tunes perform traditional
folk and fairy tales, with original songs creatively blended into
them. The CD highlights eight world tales chosen for the universality
of their message. These stories and songs celebrate the interconnectedness
of people, cultures, and countries. They are designed, as well,
to enhance auditory skills through participation. This hour-long
recording invites listeners to travel down the road in Pakistan
with four animal friends, listen to a vain cuckoo bird sing on Mexicos
Yucatan Peninsula, and dance and sing with a clever porcupine in
the African jungle. Tales n Tunes high energy performance
features character voices, tandem telling and toe-tappin,
finger snappin, hand clappin tunes which will have kids
and adults singing along in no time! This unique combination of
stories and music has been described as storytelling with
an extra dimension. Dont miss this new CD, which is
recommended for children ages 4 and older. For information on how
