3) I happened to pick up a copy of Encyclopedia
of Urban Legends by Jan Harold Brunvand. I picked it up
because, generally speaking, urban legends are not my cup of tea
- but I sometimes like to poke around in places I might not normally
go. Anyway, what I find for me . . . I found at two references
to stories I have been researching. One of the stories I knew
might be an urban legend, the other was a French Canadian folktale
- whose type I found referenced - this was very helpful because
I had had a hard time finding any info on the folktale at all.
And on top of it all, I found out some interesting debunking on
popular 'myths'.
