1) QUERY

I am looking for the story called "The King of Togo Togo." I knew the words many years ago, but with computer crashes and slowing of the brain, I am afraid I have forgotten pieces. Does anyone know the original source and where it came from one of our storytelling magazines? At first I thought Heather Forest had it in her books, but that search proved fruitless. Any help would be appreciated even if you had the whole story I would love that I would even kiss your feet. Well, maybe not that far. But I would appreciate the golden nugget of the story.

RESPONSES

a) "The King of Togo Togo." It comes from West Africa and has great music created by Steve Gorn and Bill Usher. It is on a tape recently reissued by Yellow Moon Press.

b) Laura Simms recorded the story years ago. I can't remember the name of the cassette. Maybe someone else will.

d) There is a video that I found at this site:
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/family_circle_enchanted_stories_v_4_the_foolish_rabbit/

It's called Family Circle Enchanted Stories - V. 4 - "The Foolish Rabbit" with three stories; "The Foolish Rabbit" - told by Rafe Martin, "New Year's Eve" - told by Jay O'Callahan, "The King of Togo Togo" - told by Laura Simms and more.

Maybe your local library has it or it may be available online.

2) I spent months searching for "The King of Togo Togo" story from a cassette I had as a child.

Since I recently found a copy of this cassette, I thought I'd share some of the details I had with others who may still be looking. The version I had as a child was told by Laura Simms. It's from the tape "Car-Tunes Cassettes presents Summertime Kids' Stories" featuring Robert Munsch, Laura Simms and more. It looks like it was released in 1986 by Kids' Records, and distributed by Par Rockbill Ltd., 490 Adelaide Street West, Toronto, Ontario MSV1T3. There's also an address mentioned on the case for requesting Kids' Records catalogue info - Box 670, Station A, Toronto, Ontario MSW1G2, although I have no idea if these addresses are still valid.
