(If you want to retell any of the stories listed below, be sure to obtain permission from the copyright holder if the material is not in the public domain)

1) There is a game called "Doggie, Doggie, where's your bone?" Hide bone cutouts for a treasure hunt.

2) Make up doggie bags to take treats home in. Crafts work great for 4-year-old parties. Decorate with dog stickers, dog bones, etc. or decorate to look like a dog.

3) Cut dog pictures up in puzzle pieces. Have kids put them together--or find the pieces and put them together. Or cut dog pictures in thirds and try seeing what a cocker spaniel's head looks like on a German shepherd, etc.

4) I found an easy paper folding story -I think it was in a Valerie Marsh book, Mystery-fold: stories to tell, draw, and fold 1993. It ends up making a dog's face - very easy with a folded triangle (the mountain and some easy markings. The other fold is for the two ears up at the side which I've done with kindergarteners, and think four years old could do with help.
