Usually, Easter and Passover are celebrated in the same month of the year, but this year they are in separate months. Therefore, we have asked Loren Miller to provide our Story of the Month for both March and April. He has done a considerable amount of research concerning Passover and how it relates to Easter. If you enjoy his stories, please write and tell us how you were able to use them.

Remember, now you can listen to the Story of the Month.

Here is a portion of the story The Last Supper/The Passover Meal.

The sun moved down behind the mountains to the west, giving way to evening twilight. It was time to start the meal. Everyone found his place at the table, with Jesus sitting at the head. The room became quiet as all eyes turned to the Master. He slowly looked around the table, and then spoke. "I have been eagerly looking forward to sharing this Passover with you. This is our last time together before my suffering."

This month's Bible Telling story is called Joseph Sold by his Brothers.
http://www.christianstorytelling.com/bibletelling.html
Jacob had twelve sons, but his favorite was the second-to-the-youngest, named Joseph. He was born when Jacob was older. To show his love, he gave Joseph a special coat with many colors. This aggravated his older brothers, but to make things worse, Joseph had dreams that totally angered them.

This month's Tips for Telling explains how to research a Bible story.
http://www.christianstorytelling.com/storytelling_tip.html
Normally I recommend doing some groundwork with a story before "hitting the books." Those who do their research too soon, may become enamored with an author's interpretation of the story and neglect to make the story relevant to their own audience. Still, there is a place for doing the research first. This month's story is a good illustration of such a time.

New BibleTelling Curriculum
We are moving towards releasing our new BibleTelling curriculum late this spring or in early summer. It can be used by home-school parents, Christian-school Bible classes, adult or teen Sunday-school classes and small-group Bible studies. The good news is this program is very inexpensive to operate, however, it does require training. There are several training options available:
1. May 10-13, Bloomington, IL
2. April 15, Auburn, CA (near Sacramento)
3. John Walsh will travel to any location where there are at least five Christian schools interested in the training.
4. Christian schools or home-school families who are now using BibleTelling are allowed to train others.

Crucifixion
by John Walsh
Claudius could not believe he had to oversee a crucifixion. He was a warrior, not an executioner. He longed for the battlefield, the heat of conflict, subduing barbarians or facing down rebellious kingdoms. "Oh," he mused with a smile. "Those were the good old days!" His smile left as he thought, "This peace across the empire is starting to annoy me."

The Old Testament Story
by John Walsh
The entire Old Testament in 20 minutes — We are excited about finishing the four BibleTelling books, which give 36 Old Testament structure stories. This 20-minute story may help as an overview for a BibleTelling class. Or, you could use it to introduce the story of Christ's birth. When seen in light of the Old Testament, the birth of Christ is even more powerful in it's meaning and impact.

"Even though I have been raised in church with the stories from the Bible, this overview helped me see the big picture of the Bible like I hadn't seen it before. It makes the story of Christ's birth so powerful!"

She slipped out of the house, unnoticed, and began to wend her way through the back streets of the village, into the seedier side of town. There, she was looking for the shop of an old friend of her father's, a Mr. Huang, who knew how to do many things with herbs and potions.

Birth of Jesus
Crafted by John Walsh for BibleTelling
Joseph learned of Mary's pregnancy soon after she got home from visiting Elizabeth. He was a righteous man and knew he was not the father. Still, he loved Mary and did not want to make public spectacle of her. No, he decided to simply break off the engagement and put her away quietly.

Growing Up
Crafted by John Walsh for BibleTelling
Every year Joseph's family went with their relatives and neighbors to Jerusalem to celebrate Passover. When Jesus was twelve, something different happened on this trip. When it was time to go home, he stayed behind at the Temple, without his parents knowing. They traveled a whole day, thinking Jesus was among the crowd.

The Legend of Buffana
by Dan LeMonnier
While Buffana kept busy bringing the three men hot soup and tea, they explained what had brought them out on such a night. The three were traveling from the east in search of a baby who was a prince. "We've been guided by his star since it first rose, but the snow falls so hard, we can't even catch a glimpse of it."

Raising Lazarus
Crafted by John Walsh from BibleTelling
Many of the Jews believed on Jesus that day, but some went and reported this to the religious rulers. A council was called and they decided that Jesus must die before everyone believed in him. They said, "By killing him, we will actually be helping the entire nation." They also made plans to kill Lazarus, because his resurrection was causing so many people to turn to Jesus.

He is Alive!
Crafted by John Walsh from BibleTelling
http://www.christianstorytelling.com/storytellers.html#JohnWalsh
He asked, "You are having such an intense discussion, and why do you look so sad?"
The two were surprised. "Are you the only one in the entire city that doesn't know what happened?"
Jesus smiled, "What are you talking about?"
"We are talking about a mighty prophet Jesus of Nazareth. He spoke the words of God, but the religious leaders had him crucified. We had hoped he was the one who would redeem Israel. But he has been dead for three days."
