1) I heard a Holocaust story where the baby jesus is missing from the nativity scene. I know that's not what you're looking for but it's a nice story. David, a Jewish child had been sent to a gentile home to live during the Holocaust. One day the social worker who placed him there as called by the family who housed him and they were frantic. David has to leave. He steals things and we don't want to keep him anymore. "I can't believe a little 5 year old boy would do such a thing." What did he steal? The baby jesus is missing from the manger. WE put it out yesterday for the holiday season. Let me go talk to him. Social worker goes to talk to David. David, the Schultz family have been very nice to you.They say you took the baby jesus out of the manger. Did you do such a terrible thing? Yes I did, said David. But why?they've been so good to you. Well, said David, wasn't Jesus Jewish? Yes says the social worker. Well Jews need to hide from Hitler, so I hid him so the Naziis wouldn't find him. Needless to say, David stayed with the Schultz family until after the war. ( I have no source for that story. I heard it in ATlanta and I believe it was from a church sermon) But it's a nice story.
