1) There is a neat Swedish Folktale--"Cool Breeze on a Warm Day"---Original Title: "Cool Wind in Warm Weather." It is more of a reconcilliation than divorce story. Can be found in Blecher and Blecher, Swedish Folktales and Legends (Pantheon Fairy Tale & Folklore Library), p. 255. It is very brief--1/3 page.

Bones:
Husband worries whether his wife of many years still loves him. Asks her, she says yes, of course. He asks How much? She answers, "Like a cool breeze on a warm day!" He doesn't get it and thinks it not sufficient to continue the relationship and so packs and leaves. It is a hot day and he climbs the mountain and when he reaches the top a cool breeze comes from the other side and cools him. He discovers that it is quite a gift and he returns.

2) "The Golden Tree," a Jewish Tale from India, in Laura Simms' book The Robe of Love: Secret Instructions for the Heart (2002).

3) "The Innkeeper's Wise Daughter" in Peninnah Schram's book Jewish Stories One Generation Tells Another. In her notes, she says it is tale type A-T 875 ("The Clever Peasant Girl") and lists alternative versions, including "Clever Manka" (Czechoslovakia), "The Riddles" (Turkestan), and "The Maiden Wiser than the Tsar" (Serbian).

4) There's an interesting and comprehensive website on divorce facts and proceedings at:

It might be of help to someone contemplating divorce.
