(Back of
card)
One day as the Prince sat behind
a tree, he saw a witch come to the tower, and he heard her call
out
Rapunzel,
Rapunzel, let down your hair,
That I may climb without a stair.
Then
the Prince saw a long plait thrown over the little balcony at the
window, and it reached to the ground beneath. Looking up he saw
a beautiful girl in a dainty white dress with red spots, her golden
hair decked with pearls. She held the top of her plait tight with
both hands, and the witch climbed up by it.
"If
that is the ladder by which one may enter the tower, I will climb
it," said the Prince to himself, as he sauntered home.
The next evening, at twilight, he stood at the foot of the tower
and called out
Rapunzel,
Rapunzel, let down your hair
That I may climb without a stair.
In
a moment the plait was thrown down, and the Prince climbed up by
it....
