RAHAB HIDES THE SPIES
from the Old Testament
(Story on the back
of the card)
two men as spies over Jordan to look at the land of Canaan before
the children of Israel entered it. In the city of Jericho, they
went into the house of a woman named Rahab.
The king of Jericho learned that two spies were at Rahab's house,
so he sent orders to bring the men to him. Instead
of obeying the king's orders, Rahab hid the spies under some stalks
of flax that were spread out to dry on the flat roof of her house.
messengers came to Rahab's house, but they could not find the hidden
men. After they left, Rahab told the spies that she knew the Lord
had given the land to the children of Israel, for the people of
Canaan had heard how He made the Red Sea dry for them to cross over
it and then helped them in fighting against their enemies. Because
of this, Rahab said the Canaanites were afraid of the Israelites.
She asked the two men to remember her kindness to them and not let
her or any of her family be put to death when the children of Israel
took over the city of Jericho. And the men said that if she would
tell no one of their coming, they would do as she asked....
